DEA DRUG TAKE-BACK DAY – October 22, 2016
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has announced its second 2016 date for the National Drug Take-Back Initiative. Participating law enforcement agencies will be collecting unwanted medications for disposal on Saturday, October 22 from 10am – 2pm. During the spring 2016 event, nationwide over 5,400 collection sites took in about 447 tons — or 893,498 pounds — of leftover medications., including 24 tons in Illinois (4th most overall). Government agencies promote take-back as one of the best strategies for reducing the health and environmental impacts of unwanted drugs.
