  • Mayor Angelo “Skip” Saviano Receives 2018 GreenQuality Achievement Award

    WCCSWA Chairman Michael Garvey presented the 2018 GreenQuality Achievement Award to Mayor Angelo "Skip" Saviano from the Village of Elmwood Park.  The presentation was made during the April 25, 2018 WCCSWA Board of Directors Meeting.   • April 28 Drug Take Back Day

    April 28, 2018 is the 15th Annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day   During the last event in October of 2017, Illinois had 147 collection sites, with 44,081 pounds of medications collected.   Nationwide, over 456 tons of medications were collected, a new event record.  For more information and to find a collection site near you please go to:  https://www.deadiversion.usdoj.gov/drug_disposal/takeback/

  • Cook County MEDS Disposal Initiative

    Cook County MEDS Disposal Initiative is a grassroots education campaign to share information about how to properly dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications.  MEDS stands for Management, Education, Disposal and Storage.   Locations of drop off facilities as well as other information on the Cook County MEDS Disposal Initiative can be found at:   https://cookcountymeds.org/

  • WCCSWA Approves New Executive Committee Members

    At its January 10, 2018 meeting, the West Cook County Solid Waste Agency (WCCSWA) Executive Committee voted on and approved the appointment of Joe Pisano of the Village of Hillside as its new Treasurer and Brian Pabst of the City of Berwyn and John Wielebnicki of the Village of Oak Park as their new members of the Executive Committee.   It was ratified and approved at the January 24, 2018 Board of Directors Full Membership Meeting. Congratulations to Joe, Brian and John!

  • Fall 2017 National Prescription Drug Take Back Day Scheduled for Saturday, October 28th

  • DEA National Take Back Day Scheduled

    April 29, 2017 – 10AM to 2PM The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse and medications. Locations have yet to be determined.
